Mitch Vanhille began his athletic journey in 2013 after he moved to Taiwan for work purposes. When walking through the mountain and jungle trails, he noticed that he was struggling to keep up with an older man who seemed to have no problem traversing the landscape despite physical limitations. It was at that moment when Mitch Vanhille of was struck with inspiration to pursue endurance running for the first time. He thought that, one day, he would want to be able to do what the elderly man he encountered was capable of and decided to start on the path towards that vision. The man became one of Vanhille’s good friends and, through his help and that of other like-minded runners and athletes in his life, he was able to begin the process of changing his life for the better.
Throughout the following months, Mitch Vanhille began to immerse himself deeper into training. According to Vanhille, the process was made much easier with the unconditional support of the friends that he made along the way. He eventually moved onto competition and completed his first 17km trail running race at 34 years old. This milestone showed Mitch Vanhille that it is never too late to start a path towards success.
Within a year of starting endurance running, Mitch Vanhille completed his first 50km ultradistance trail race and first Olympic Distance triathlon. He recognized that running provided comfort as well as competition, and it became his most championed way to display his competitive spirit. In 2016, Mitch Vanhille moved to Singapore and made the step towards taking triathlons at a competitive level. As of 2020, Mitch Vanhille of Singapore has completed a variety of different endeavors in the sport of endurance running. He has completed ironman races and has qualified for the Ironman World-Championship in Kona.
